One Module Snap
A bite-sized Bologna Modulare format: one module, one community member, a focused exploration in just a few seconds.
One Module Snap is a bite-sized Bologna Modulare format dedicated to exploring a single module through the perspective and practice of a member of the community.
Each episode focuses on one instrument and on a concrete way of using it: patches, techniques, specific behaviours and small tricks emerging from actual practice.
Episodes
#1 — After Later Audio Benjolin V2
Alfre D’
Benjolin V2
Alfre D’ explores the Benjolin. With its dual oscillators, runglers (stepped CV generators) and multimode filter, the Benjolin has quickly earned legendary status.
Alfre D’ is using the After Later Audio Benjolin V2 version of Rob Hordijk’s iconic design.
#2 — Bastl Instruments Dark Matter
Polyterative
Dark Matter
Vladyslav Yakovenko aka Polyterative shares his strategy for blending kicks and bass using Bastl Instruments Dark Matter.
The two inputs combine particularly smoothly when adding a touch of the module’s distortion. Dark Matter offers flexible mixing possibilities through its signal-flow switches.
#3 — Bastl Instruments Pizza
Wang Inc.
Pizza
Bartolomeo aka Wang Inc. explores the FM possibilities of Bastl Instruments Pizza together with its three waveshaping modes: Wave, Fold and Ring modulation.
Pizza is driven by an RYK Modular M185 sequencer and configured as a self-contained synth voice, with the CTRL knob acting as an AR envelope for the internal VCA.
#4 — Sismo Synths Samba Desktop
ColabrodoAppicco
Samba Desktop
ColabrodoAppicco explores the Sismo Synths Samba Desktop.
The machine combines six sequencers, five sine-wave generators and six oscillators with selectable triangle and square waveforms. In this setup the left sequencer drives the bass line, while the other sequencers trigger oscillators routed through a low-pass gate. Make Noise 0-CTRL sequences the oscillators.
#5 — Mutable Instruments Plaits
Vinx Scorza
Plaits
Vinx Scorza explores Mutable Instruments Plaits, the evolved version of the iconic Braids and a long-time staple of his rack.
The wavetable index is modulated at audio rate by the output of an Acidlab M303, while the index changes only when a trigger is received. Delay, kick and hi-hat complete the patch.
#6 — Steady State Fate Triptych
Dixie FlatLine
Triptych
Dixie FlatLine explores the noise capabilities of the Steady State Fate Triptych.
Its unstable harmonics are generated through self-oscillation controlled by Mannequins Cold Mac, while Make Noise Maths is used for pinging.
Warning: noise tsunami incoming!
